Did you know, alginate comes from seaweed? Commercial alginate is produced from something called algin, which is known as ‘alginic acid’ and occurs naturally in brown seaweed. These brown seaweeds are harvested and mixed with water to form a soft, elastic gel that adapts well to different shapes. The effective absorbency of alginate draws moisture away from the skin which may reduce irritation and promote skin health.
